Greetings in the name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ!\u00a0 My name is Donna Holcomb, known to many as Pastor D.\u00a0 My husband Mike have been married for 52 wonderful years. God called me to ministry later in life, first as a lay leader and speaker in our home church then eventually to pulpit ministry as a pastor<\/span> permanently in 2005.\u00a0 For the first 8 years I was bi-vocational until I was called full time. My background is in business as an executive director and social worker both in the senior community. I have served 4 churches in the past 21 years \u2013 Alvarado, Helmer, South Milford & Orland.\u00a0 I am in my 17<\/span>th<\/span><\/span> year serving Helmer.\u00a0 All four of these churches have disaffiliated from the UMC and we are sharing the common bond of being a part of the Global Methodist Church.\u00a0 On October 28, 2023, I was ordained as an Elder in the Global Methodist Church and in August 2025 was appointed Presiding Elder for the Northeast Indiana district. Ministry has been and continues to be such a blessing in my life \u2013 serving God and His people in unique and wonderful ways.\u00a0 In my personal life, my husband and I live on a 21 acre farmette where he has restored it to wildlife habitat.\u00a0 We have beautiful views from our home and I cannot imagine living anywhere else.\u00a0 Mike is retired from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources where he served in several capacities over nearly 30 years, ending as Property Manager.\u00a0 We are the proud parents of twin sons born in 1976 \u2013 Michael II who now lives in heaven since his 36<\/span>th<\/span><\/span> birthday due to losing his life in a hit and run accident; and Travis who, with his beautiful wife Jennie are parents to our three precious grandchildren \u2013 Reed who is 31, Rachel who is 25 and Luke who is 20.\u00a0 Reed and his wife Kenzie live in Colorado Springs and are parents to our first great grandchild (a baby girl) Harper Suzanne born in January 2024.\u00a0 Rachel is married to Mason Lee and they live in Marathon Key, Florida and Luke is a sophomore college student in Iowa where he pitches for the baseball team.\u00a0 We have been blessed with health and happiness throughout our lives, despite my two bouts fighting cancer and the loss of a son.\u00a0 But God is faithful and we are so grateful!\u00a0 In our spare time (what is that?) we enjoy traveling, bicycling, reading and working on the farm.\u00a0 We invite you to join us in person or online for our services (Facebook:\u00a0 Helmer Community Church) and receive the joy we have been given by our God7<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
